EMERGE

A somatic journey for mothers who are ready to meet themselves again.

You can deeply love being a mother and still miss the woman you were before motherhood.

Motherhood can bring an extraordinary kind of love—and at the same time, a profound shift in identity, relationships, priorities, and the way you experience your own body.

You may find yourself thinking:

Why am I reacting this way?
Why don't I recognize myself anymore?
Why do I understand my patterns but still struggle to change them?
How do I care for everyone else without abandoning myself?
How do I break patterns I don't want to carry forward?

You are not failing.

You may be navigating a transformation that simply hasn't been given enough language, space, or support to be understood.

EMERGE is an 8-session somatic healing journey designed to help you understand your nervous system, reconnect with your body, explore the identity shifts of motherhood, and begin creating new ways of responding—rather than simply reacting.

Maybe You Don't Need to Become Someone New
Maybe you need space to understand who you are becoming.

Matrescence—the ongoing transition into motherhood—can involve changes in your body, emotions, nervous system, identity, relationships, and sense of self. It can hold both deep love and connection alongside disorientation, grief, or a feeling of losing yourself.

EMERGE creates space to explore that transition without asking you to choose between being a mother and being yourself.

You get to be both.

EMERGE is for you if...

You are thoughtful, self-aware, and curious about your inner world—but sometimes feel like understanding yourself intellectually isn't enough.

You may be:

A mother who feels overwhelmed by the constant demands of caregiving.

Someone who understands her patterns but still finds herself repeating them.

A woman who has become disconnected from her body or sense of self.

Someone who tends to over-function, over-give, control, avoid, shut down, or keep the peace.

A mother questioning old family patterns and wondering what she may be carrying forward.

Someone who wants to communicate differently but finds herself reacting before she has time to think.

A woman experiencing an identity shift and wondering, “Who am I now?”

Someone who wants practical tools—not another space to simply talk about what's wrong.

You don't need to have everything figured out.

You simply need to be curious about what might be possible if you began listening to yourself differently.

What Is EMERGE?

EMERGE is an intimate, therapist-led experience that brings together nervous system education, somatic practices, cognitive integration, breathwork, movement, sound, reflection, and community.

The goal isn't to teach you how to stay calm all the time.

The goal is to help you:
recognize your state → understand your patterns → listen to your body → respond with greater intention → practice new ways of being.

The program builds from awareness into embodiment. By the later sessions, participants aren't simply learning about regulation—they're practicing how to live inside that awareness.

What Does "Somatic" Actually Mean?

Your body is part of the conversation.

Somatic work brings attention to how your experiences are held and expressed in the body, rather than
working only through thoughts and words.

In EMERGE, somatic awareness becomes a bridge between your thoughts, emotions,
physical sensations, and the actions you take.

Instead of only asking:
“Why am I feeling this way?”

We begin to ask:
"What is happening inside my body right now?"

You may have taken notice of...

tension in your jaw - a racing heart - shallow breathing - heaviness or fatigue - restlessness -
numbness - wanting to withdraw - the impulse to control, fix, appease, or escape

These sensations become information—not something to judge or immediately get rid of.

Why Is Somatic Work Part of Emerge?

Put simply, awareness alone doesn't always create change.

You can know that you're overwhelmed and still snap.
You can know that you need a boundary and still say yes.
You can know your thoughts aren't facts and still believe them when you're activated.
You can know you want to respond differently and still find yourself reacting automatically.

EMERGE explores what happens when we bring the body into the work.

Participants learn to recognize nervous-system states, notice patterns, label experiences, and practice small, repeatable moments of regulation. The program specifically frames these micro-moments as opportunities to build new pathways through repetition and experience.

What You'll Walk Away With

By the end of EMERGE, you'll have:

  • A deeper understanding of your nervous system.
You'll have language for recognizing when you're moving into activation, shutdown, or greater connection—and a clearer understanding of what your body may be communicating.
  • Greater awareness of your patterns.
You'll begin recognizing the thoughts, beliefs, behaviors, and protective responses that shape how you move through relationships and motherhood.
  • Language for experiences you've struggled to explain.
You'll have a vocabulary for sensations, emotions, identity shifts, boundaries, nervous-system states, and experiences that may have previously felt confusing or isolating.
  • Practical tools you can actually use.
Rather than leaving with information that lives inside a notebook, you'll practice small somatic tools you can bring into real life.
  • A different relationship with your emotions.
Instead of immediately judging or identifying with an experience, you'll practice noticing and naming what is happening: “This is here right now.” Labeling is presented in EMERGE as a way of creating space between yourself and the experience.
  • More compassionate boundaries.
You'll explore how honoring your capacity can become an act of regulation and self-respect rather than something you need to feel guilty about.
  • A deeper connection to the woman underneath the roles.
Rather than trying to return to who you were before motherhood, you'll explore how to integrate who you are becoming.

A collection of practices you can continue using long after the program ends.

"I finally had words for what I was feeling."

The EMERGE Journey

Week 01

Begin

Arriving in the body

We will begin with an opening movement practice, paired with breath work. This will be when introductions are made and one can meet the body where it is; an opportunity to release any preconceived notions of stepping into this space and welcoming the journey.

Week 02

Attune

Learning to listen inwards

Understand the internal landscape through the nervous system. This is where you will begin to learn the science behind why you may be feeling lost in your body and mind, in relation to the identity you hold as a mother. Explore the nervous system, the vagus nerve, regulation, and somatic awareness while learning to recognize the signals your body has been communicating.

Week 03

Acknowledge

Understanding what shaped you

We will explore the role of survival and the possible ancestral link to trauma and somatic experiencing. This is where we will discuss how the story of the past connects to the creation of barriers and feelings of stagnation in the present; the various ways motherhood can bring familiar adaptations into a new context.

Week 04

Remember

Putting language to your experience

Reconnecting with the woman who existed before—and asking, “What else is true?” Here, you will explore the layers of the subtle bodies and the ways they shape the stories, beliefs, sensations, and experiences that influence how you understand who you are today. This is an invitation to look beyond a single narrative and reconnect with the many parts of yourself that have always been there.

Integrate

A purposeful pause to absorb what has come forward

Instead of adding more material, you'll have space to pause, reflect, revisit what has resonated, and allow the first half of the journey to settle into everyday life.

Pause Notice Absorb Integrate

Week 05

Emerge

Coming home to the body

We will welcome one another back into the space through an in-person sound bath and breathwork practice. This is the turning point of the journey, the moment where the body can integrate what was brought forward and welcome it with the ease of breath. Here, we pause long enough to recognize what has changed and allow that awareness to become part of how we move forward.

Week 06

Redefine

Stepping into the woman you are becoming

Integrating the shift and stepping forward as both the mother and the woman. Here, you will explore the patterns of communication that shape how you relate to yourself and others, while learning to use language that reflects your needs, boundaries, and evolving sense of identity. This is an opportunity to move beyond old roles and responses and begin embodying a fuller, more whole version of yourself.

Week 07

Embody

Living what you've learned.

Bring the work inward through connection, social engagement, and presence, while deepening your awareness of how you want to show up in relationship with yourself and others. This is an opportunity to practice staying connected to your body, your needs, and your sense of self while creating a more intentional way of moving through the world.

Week 08

Devotion to Self

Bringing the journey full circle

Close the journey with the last in-person session and create your Promise Card—a tangible representation of a quality you're reclaiming, a truth you're remembering, a vow to yourself, and the nervous-system intention you want to carry forward.

Meet Your Guide

Maya Weber Hipskind is a licensed clinical social worker, mother, somatic healer, hypnotherapist, and certified yoga teacher. For over a decade, she has woven traditional therapy with body-based practices including yoga, breathwork, mindfulness, and sound healing to bridge the cognitive mind with the wisdom of the body.

Her experience spans mental health, grief, complex trauma, and supporting survivors of sexual trauma and exploitation. Through her own journey with stress and motherhood, Maya discovered how deeply the body can influence the way we experience and respond to life—and how reconnecting with it can create greater ease, balance, and resilience.

EMERGE grew from this intersection of clinical experience and personal experience. It was created to support mothers navigating the profound shifts of identity, nervous system, and body that can accompany motherhood, offering an integrative space to reconnect with themselves and the woman they are becoming.

Frequently Asked Questions

1.

Who is EMERGE for?

EMERGE is designed for mothers at any age or stage of motherhood who are ready to reconnect with themselves, better understand their nervous system, and explore the physical, emotional, and identity shifts that can accompany motherhood.

2.

Do I need to have experience with somatic work?

Not at all. EMERGE is designed to meet you where you are. The practices are accessible and are introduced gradually, with an emphasis on curiosity rather than doing anything perfectly.

3.

Is EMERGE therapy?

EMERGE is a structured, educational, and experiential group program led by a licensed clinical social worker. While the work is therapeutic in nature and draws from clinical and somatic practices, it is not a substitute for individual psychotherapy or mental health treatment.

4.

What will I need for the program?

You'll receive an EMERGE journal to use throughout the journey. For virtual sessions, you'll simply need a comfortable space where you can participate. Some sessions may invite you to have water, a comfort item, or other simple materials nearby. Details for the in-person experiences will be shared ahead of time.

5.

What if I can't make one of the sessions?

Because EMERGE is a group experience, consistent participation is encouraged so you can fully engage with the journey and community. However, if you need to miss a session, reach out ahead of time to discuss the ways you can receive any missed information.

6.

What if I'm a mother, but I'm no longer in the early stages of motherhood?

EMERGE isn't limited to new mothers. Matrescence is an ongoing process of identity and life transition that can continue through different stages of motherhood. Whether your child is a newborn, teenager, adult, or you've become a grandmother, you may find value in exploring who you are within—and beyond—the role of mother.

7.

Are all of the sessions virtual?

No. EMERGE includes both virtual and in-person experiences. The three in-person sessions take place in the South Miami area, with the exact location shared closer to the start of the program.

8.

What happens after EMERGE ends?

Your program concludes with a complimentary 1:1 integration session. This is an opportunity to reflect on your experience, explore anything that still feels unfinished, and consider what support may best serve you as you continue integrating the work.

Your Journey Begins Here

You don't have to wait until you feel completely lost to reconnect with yourself.
Maybe you've been carrying the questions for a while.
Maybe you understand so much intellectually, but still feel disconnected from your body.
Maybe you're ready to explore the patterns you've inherited, the roles you've taken on, and the woman you are becoming.

EMERGE is an invitation to slow down, listen inward, and create space for a deeper relationship with yourself.

Over eight weeks, you'll be invited to learn, experience, reflect, and integrate—with the support of a small community moving through the journey alongside you.
